Introduction :)

Hello!  My name is August.  I am not going to tell you my last name because I feel that is not that important.  I have created this blog to chart our progress over the next 24 weeks.  I will be training for a marathon in Leadville Colorado.  Over the next twenty-four weeks I will be putting myself and my body to the test.

But first let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a 28 year old, teacher from Williamsville, Illinois, USA.  When I was 24 I moved to Norway.  Yes, the country.  I grew up playing sports and I even got a baseball scholarship to a DI school in Indiana.  Which was nice.  These past four years I have been an avid hiker and skiier.  I am also big into rock climbing.

Enough about me, I am not going to be the only one doing this race my girlfriend, Sarah is also going to be competing.

Okay, my name is Sarah:) and I am also from Williamsville, Illinois, USA and just for the record I originally thought I was signing up for the 1/2 marathon, but I guess we’ve jumped to the full blown 26.2 miles (that’s 41.92 km) which is fine with me.  I am an avid runner. I’ve pretty much been running around a track ever since.  I am currently a runner at North Central College (Naperville, Illinois)and will finish my final season this Spring.  I have never raced anything over a 6k so it will be interesting to see how this whole thing turns out.

I am so ready to take on this course in Colorado that I can hardly stand it and I get to share it with someone who’s pretty much the most amazing person I’ve ever met:)  As far as training goes-that will be the fun part.  I am a little more limited in the miles I can put in right now because I’m in season, but am still actively preparing myself to tackle Leadville.
